Alexander Furmanov
I build systems where intelligence emerges from coordination — not control.
I work across distributed multi-agent architectures, low-level engineering, and experimental tools — from C++ engines to a research runtime for machine cognition.

I'm a systems engineer with 5+ years of commercial experience, working mostly in C++ and Go. My background is low-level and backend — systems and desktop software, networking and protocols, concurrency, and reliability-critical code.
I've shipped across fintech and payment terminals, internal engineering tools, embedded control systems on STM32, and backend services — the kind of work where correctness, memory, and edge cases actually matter. I like problems close to the metal, and systems that have to hold up under real load.
Lately my focus has turned to emergent and distributed systems — how coordinated behavior can arise without a central controller. That's the thread behind Rhizome, the research runtime I'm building. Throughout, I care about systems you can actually trust: claims backed by evidence, processes you can trace.
Selected work
Systems, research, and tools I've built or hold a stake in.
Rhizome
A research runtime for coordination without permanent orchestration. Agents don't wait for commands — they attach to tensions, coordinate in motion, and produce outcomes verified against evidence. The core of my work on distributed machine cognition.
Purple Operations Limited
An Abu Dhabi-based cyber intelligence consultancy working at the intersection of intelligence-led security, adversary emulation, offensive capability development, and operational readiness — building tailored products and secure architectures for government, defence, and critical-infrastructure stakeholders.
Argumate
A structured-debate platform where people argue turn by turn against real opponents. Voice or text is converted into argument trees, debates are judged by AI, claims are fact-checked against open sources, and progression is tracked through ratings and analytics.
Voxellaneous
A high-performance voxel engine built from scratch in C++: octree world partitioning, GPU-accelerated greedy meshing, real-time lighting via ray marching, and sub-millisecond chunk generation for infinite procedural worlds.
Backlog Hygiene
A task-management tool for high-velocity teams — automated backlog triage with priority scoring, stale-ticket detection, and sprint-capacity optimization through real-time analytics.
Capabilities
From research-level systems thinking down to memory-tight, low-level code.
